Brandy and Monica Announce First-Ever Joint Tour, 25 Years After “The Boy Is Mine”
More than two decades after their chart-topping duet “The Boy Is Mine” dominated the airwaves, Brandy and Monica are officially reuniting — not just for a song, but for their first-ever co-headlining tour.
The Grammy-winning R&B icons announced their upcoming “The Boy Is Mine Tour” on CBS Mornings, revealing a 24-city arena run that begins October 16 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and concludes December 7 in Houston, Texas.
“They’ve been trying to get us to tour since 1998,” Brandy shared. “It finally just felt like the right time. It’s a dream come true.”
Monica described their musical reunion as a “musical marriage,” emphasizing that their renewed collaboration came from building real communication and a strong relationship behind the scenes.
The tour marks a significant milestone for the duo, whose 1998 hit spent 13 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, placing them among elite company alongside Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. The song, centered on two women competing for the same man, won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1999.
Interest in the track surged again in 2024 after Brandy and Monica made a surprise cameo in Ariana Grande’s “The Boy Is Mine” music video. That revival led to a Grammy nomination for their collaborative remix, more than 25 years after the original.
Joining the tour are Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, and 2025 American Idol winner Jamal Roberts, promising a powerhouse lineup of talent and nostalgia.
The announcement also follows years of public speculation about tension between the singers — something both artists acknowledged.
“There was a lot of confusion and conflict… and a lot of people around,” Monica said.
Brandy added: “We don’t even like the same kind of guy. There could never have really been a boy.”
When asked about curating the setlist, both singers agreed the biggest challenge will be narrowing down their catalogues.
“We want to give fans everything, but we can’t keep them there all night,” Monica said. “This is a celebration of music and womanhood.”
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. Presales begin Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time with the code BPC.
