Maya Joint pulled off one of the most remarkable comebacks of the WTA season on Saturday, capturing her second Hologic WTA Tour singles title of 2025 with a gritty performance at the Lexus Eastbourne Open.
The 19-year-old Australian outlasted 20-year-old qualifier Alexandra Eala of the Philippines in a high-stakes battle between two of the tour’s brightest young stars, saving four championship points en route to a dramatic 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(10) victory.

The final set was a rollercoaster, with both players trading momentum and breaks of serve before the match was ultimately decided in a nerve-wracking 10-point tiebreak. Joint held her nerve, sealing the win on her second championship point after 2 hours and 26 minutes of gripping play.
Saturday’s victory marks Joint’s second title in her last four tournaments — each on a different surface. She previously triumphed on the red clay in Rabat in May and now adds a grass-court title on the historic lawns of Eastbourne to her growing resume.
In winning the youngest Eastbourne final by combined age since 1981, Joint is now projected to crack the Top 50 in Monday’s updated PIF WTA Rankings.
And her Eastbourne campaign isn’t over yet — Joint is also set to compete in the doubles final later in the day alongside Hsieh Su-wei. The pair will face Marie Bouzkova and Anna Danilina for the doubles crown.
