The 138th edition of Wimbledon gets underway today, launching two weeks of world-class tennis under what’s expected to be scorching skies — with temperatures potentially soaring to 33°C, challenging players from the start.

British participation is at a 40-year high, with 14 homegrown players in action on opening day — the most since 1984. Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter, and other rising stars like Mimi Xu and Jacob Fearnley are set to shine on Centre and Court One.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz opens Centre Court at 13:30 BST, facing Italy’s Fabio Fognini, followed by Boulter vs. Paula Badosa and Alexander Zverev vs. Arthur Rinderknech.

On Court One, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka begins her run against Canadian qualifier Carson Branstine, with Raducanu taking on 17-year-old fellow Brit Mimi Xu in an all-British showdown.

Elsewhere, Cameron Norrie, Harriet Dart, Sonay Kartal, Hannah Klugman, and teen wildcard Mika Stojsavljevic are among 10 more Brits competing across the grounds. Stojsavljevic, just 16, earned her spot after winning the 2023 US Open girls’ title.
