Heat Advisory Issued for Western and Central New York as Temperatures Soar
As summer heat intensifies across the Empire State, the National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a heat advisory for much of western and central New York on Thursday, July 24, in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

- Heat index values in the mid- to upper-90s
- Actual temperatures reaching:
- Mid-90s in Rochester, Syracuse, and nearby areas
- Low-90s in parts of the Southern Tier, including Ithaca and Elmira
- Elevated risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for children, seniors, and outdoor workers
