Why Al Roker Was Missing From the ‘TODAY Show’ This Week
Following cohost Sheinelle Jones’ recent extended absence, viewers grew concerned when Al Roker was noticeably missing from a “TODAY Show” broadcast earlier this week.
Fortunately, there’s no cause for alarm — the beloved meteorologist is doing just fine. His brief absence came after a busy working vacation in Alaska, where he filmed a segment for the “TODAY Show” alongside Dylan Dreyer and Kaylee Hartung.

During the broadcast, cohost Craig Melvin addressed Roker’s absence, explaining that he simply needed a bit more time to recover after the trip.
But Roker didn’t head straight home. After Alaska, he and his wife, Deborah Roberts, traveled to Martha’s Vineyard to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jaws. The island, famously used as the stand-in for the fictional Amity Island in Steven Spielberg’s iconic film, has been preparing for the milestone event for years.
Roker even shared highlights from the celebration on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse into his Jaws-themed adventure.
