YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — A 30-year-old man from Randolph, New Jersey, sustained minor injuries after being gored by a bison Tuesday morning in the Old Faithful area, according to park officials.

The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m. when a group of visitors reportedly got too close to the animal. The man was treated for his injuries, and the situation remains under investigation. His name and current condition have not been released.
This marks the second bison-related goring in Yellowstone this spring. On May 7, a 47-year-old man from Cape Coral, Florida, was also gored near Lake Village, suffering minor injuries.
Bison are responsible for more injuries to visitors than any other wild animal in the park. In recent years, multiple people have been gored, including an 83-year-old South Carolina woman and an Arizona woman in 2023.
Weighing up to 2,000 pounds and capable of running 35 mph, bison are North America’s largest land mammals. Yellowstone regulations require visitors to stay at least 25 yards away from bison and other large animals, and 100 yards from predators like bears and wolves.
