F1 Hungarian GP Live Update: Lando Norris Wins Thrilling Race Ahead of Oscar Piastri | Race Results & Standings

The Hungaroring delivered pure Formula 1 drama once again — and it was Lando Norris who stood tallest after a nerve-shredding final few laps to win the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix.

In what proved to be a strategic masterclass, Norris made a bold one-stop strategy work to perfection, fending off a ferocious late charge from teammate and title rival Oscar Piastri. The British driver, who started fourth, kept his cool under relentless pressure and crossed the finish line just 0.6 seconds ahead — securing his fifth win of the season and slicing Piastri’s championship lead to just nine points heading into the summer break.

Piastri, meanwhile, gave it everything. The Australian threw caution to the wind in the final stages, nearly colliding with Norris on the penultimate lap after locking up into Turn 1. But despite the aggression and speed, he had to settle for second on the day.

George Russell quietly went about his business and grabbed the final spot on the podium after passing Charles Leclerc with eight laps to go. Leclerc, who started from pole, was left ruing a frustrating fourth-place finish, later revealing that a chassis issue made the car “undrivable” at times.

Lewis Hamilton’s struggles continued, finishing a lap down in 12th after dropping back at the start and never recovering.

A Historic Day for McLaren

With Norris taking the checkered flag, McLaren celebrated their 200th win in Formula 1, a massive milestone for the iconic team. Norris, drained but elated, admitted post-race:

“I’m dead! That was one of the toughest races I’ve had. The one-stop wasn’t the plan initially, but it ended up being our only option. I had to push flat out with Oscar catching, but we nailed the strategy today.”

Piastri was gracious in defeat:

“I gave it everything. Once Lando committed to the one-stop, I knew I had to overtake him on track, which is easier said than done. We were on the wrong side of the gamble this time.”
