Fire Erupts on Tomorrowland Main Stage Just Two Days Before Festival Launch

Massive Fire Damages Tomorrowland Main Stage Just Days Before Festival Begins

A major fire has severely damaged the iconic main stage at Tomorrowland, the world-renowned electronic dance music festival held annually in Boom, Belgium. The blaze erupted just two days before the festival was set to kick off, prompting concern but not cancellation, according to organizers.

The fire broke out Wednesday, sending towering flames and thick black smoke into the sky. Social media videos captured the dramatic scene at the Orbyz stage — the central structure of this year’s event — with fireworks from the stage’s built-in production features seen igniting during the blaze. Some footage even showed smoke visible from Brussels, over 16 miles away.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.

Tomorrowland organizers confirmed that, despite the extensive damage to the main stage, the festival will continue as planned, with updates to be shared in due course. No other stages or festival areas were impacted, according to the official website.

On Thursday morning, festivalgoers were seen arriving at DreamVille, the event’s official campground, after being told it would open on schedule.

However, officials are now evaluating the structural safety of the damaged stage. “It is now up to the organization to assess what is technically feasible,” said François van den Eynde of the Rivierenland fire district. “What remains on site must be safe enough to receive visitors.”

The main stage is Tomorrowland’s centerpiece, typically hosting its biggest performances. This year’s headliners include global EDM stars such as Martin Garrix, David Guetta, and Fisher.

In an emotional statement, organizers described the Orbyz stage as much more than just a performance platform:

“This wasn’t just a stage. It was a living, breathing world. From the first sketch to the final bolt, every part of Orbyz carried a piece of our soul.”

The Orbyz theme represents a mythical civilization emerging from beneath melting glaciers — a key creative concept for this year’s festival.

“It’s too early to say what’s possible,” Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen told Belgium’s Radio 1. “In the coming hours, we’ll determine what can be done to move forward on the festival grounds.”
