Four Georgia Players Score $100K in Powerball as Jackpot Finally Gets Claimed

Georgia Players Strike $100K Wins in Historic $1.8 Billion Powerball Drawing

The weekend turned into a life-changing one for lottery players across the country, as the long-awaited $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot was finally claimed on Saturday night. The massive prize, which had been building for weeks, will be split between two lucky ticket holders — one in Missouri and one in Texas — making them instant billionaires.

But while the spotlight shines on those jackpot winners, Georgia had its own exciting moment. Four players in the Peach State each scored a $100,000 prize, proving that you don’t have to hit the grand jackpot to walk away with life-changing money.

Georgia’s Big Wins

According to the Georgia Lottery, four tickets sold in the state matched four white-ball numbers plus the red Powerball, a tough combination in itself. Thanks to the 2x “Power Play” multiplier, each of those tickets doubled their prize from $50,000 to $100,000.

And they weren’t alone. Another 12 Georgia players also matched the same numbers (four white balls plus the Powerball), but without the Power Play option, leaving them with $50,000 each.

For those who came just a step short, the wins kept rolling in:

  • 136 players grabbed $200 wins by matching either four white balls or three white balls plus the Powerball, with the multiplier in play.
  • Nearly 800 others won $100 each by hitting four white balls or three white balls plus the Powerball.

For many everyday Georgians, those wins may not be “billionaire money,” but they’re still enough to pay off bills, boost savings, or fund a dream vacation.

The Winning Numbers

The Powerball winning numbers for Saturday, September 6, were:
11, 23, 44, 61, 62 and the red Powerball 17.

These numbers made history, pushing the jackpot into the record books as the second-largest in U.S. lottery history — trailing only the $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot from 2022.

Big Wins Beyond Georgia

While Georgia celebrated its share of winners, other states had even more reasons to cheer. Some highlights include:

  • Kansas and Texas each had tickets worth $2 million, thanks to the 2x Power Play multiplier.
  • Nearly 20 tickets across the U.S. won $1 million prizes. Winners were spread across California, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, West Virginia, and more.

It was a truly nationwide celebration, with players in dozens of states cashing in on this historic draw.

What’s Next for Powerball and Mega Millions?

Now that the $1.8 billion jackpot has been claimed, Powerball has reset to a still-impressive $20 million for Monday’s drawing.

Meanwhile, Mega Millions is heating up, with its jackpot climbing to $358 million. For those who missed out on Saturday’s action, the next big chance to win is already around the corner.
