Tom Felton Returns as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway
Tom Felton, best known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, is set to reprise the character—this time on stage. The English actor will join the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, marking the first time a star from the original movies has appeared in the acclaimed stage adaptation.

Felton will take the stage at New York’s Lyric Theatre starting November 11 for a 19-week run. The play, which debuted in London’s West End in 2016 before moving to Broadway in 2018, acts as a sequel to J.K. Rowling’s beloved books, set 19 years after the final chapter. It follows a new generation of students at Hogwarts—including the children of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco.
“Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Felton said in a statement. “Joining Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be a full-circle moment, especially as I’ll be the same age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes—and of course, his iconic platinum blond hair.”
Felton, now 37, portrayed Draco Malfoy in all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011, alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. His return is a landmark moment for the franchise’s devoted fanbase and the Harry Potter Broadway community.

To announce the news, Felton shared a teaser video on Instagram, donning Draco’s familiar blond wig and robes before ominously holding his wand and declaring: “Scared, Potter?” The video ends with the caption: “Draco is back.”
With this return, Tom Felton makes history as the first film actor to step into the magical world of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child live on stage—bringing a fan-favorite character to life in a bold new way.
