Justin Fields Suffers Injury at Jets Camp — Major Fantasy Football Implications for 2025

Justin Fields Injured at Jets Camp: What It Means for Your Fantasy Football Drafts

Jets fans and Fantasy Football managers held their breath Thursday as quarterback Justin Fields left training camp with a toe injury. Carted off the field and seen limping, initial fears were serious — but early reports suggest the injury isn’t expected to linger into the regular season.

Head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed it was a toe on Fields’ right foot, but said the severity was still unclear. NFL insider Ian Rapoport later clarified Fields suffered a dislocated toe — not a fracture, and not the big toe. ESPN’s Rich Cimini echoed the optimism, reporting the injury is not significant, and Fields is expected to be ready for Week 1 vs. the Steelers.

If Fields remains on track, Fantasy managers can breathe easier. Fields was ranked as QB10 in preseason projections and remains there for now. With his elite rushing upside — including 1,143 rushing yards in 2022 and a career average of 50.2 yards per game — Fields has legitimate league-winner potential.

In his final four games with Pittsburgh in 2024, Fields averaged 24.5 Fantasy points per game, and he’s already proven he can post over 20 PPG across full seasons. For one-QB leagues, consider pairing him with a safe backup like Tua Tagovailoa, C.J. Stroud, or Brock Purdy.

Impact on Other Jets Players

Breece Hall remains a strong RB2 option, best targeted in late Round 3 or early Round 4. While Coach Glenn has mentioned using Hall alongside rookie backs Braleon Allen and Isaiah Davis “as much as possible,” Hall still offers big upside. He scored over 18.3 PPR points in six of his first 11 games last season — though he did fade down the stretch.

Still, Fields’ arrival might cut into Hall’s passing-game volume and red zone work, so temper expectations slightly.

Garrett Wilson is another player to watch. With a strong college connection to Fields from their Ohio State days — 43 catches, 723 yards, 6 TDs in 8 games during 2020 — Wilson is a high-end WR2, worth drafting at the end of Round 3 or start of Round 4. Fields helped D.J. Moore thrive in Chicago in 2023, and a similar breakout is in play for Wilson.

Backup Plan?

If Fields misses time, Tyrod Taylor steps in. Glenn voiced full confidence in the veteran:

“We have an outstanding backup in Tyrod… we’re all good.”

Taylor could be a viable option in Superflex and 2-QB formats. The 35-year-old has two 20+ Fantasy PPG seasons from his time in Buffalo and remains a capable dual-threat.

Deep Sleepers

Keep an eye on rookie TE Mason Taylor as a late-round flier — he could emerge as the No. 2 target in this offense. Braleon Allen also makes for a solid handcuff to Hall.
