🧊 A Quick Slurpee History:
The Slurpee originated in the 1960s when Omar Knedlik, a Dairy Queen operator in Kansas, began selling semi-frozen sodas. With help from the John E. Mitchell Company, he developed a machine to freeze and dispense the drink — eventually branded as the Icee. When 7-Eleven acquired the machines, the store gave the treat a new name: Slurpee — a name that’s now frozen into American pop culture.
