Will Levis Ruled Out for Season After Shoulder Injury

Titans Confirm Will Levis Out for Entire 2025 Season Following Shoulder Surgery

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis has officially been ruled out for the entire 2025 NFL season after opting to undergo shoulder surgery, the team announced Monday.

Levis, who had served as the Titans’ starting quarterback over the past two seasons, was projected to move into a backup role this year behind 2025 first-overall draft pick Cam Ward. However, ongoing issues with his shoulder have led the 25-year-old to choose surgery in hopes of ensuring a full recovery.

“After consulting with doctors and his representatives, Will Levis has decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2025 season,” the Titans said in an official statement. “We support his decision to prioritize his long-term health. Throughout the offseason, Will showed professionalism and clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery and future in the NFL.”

Levis reportedly battled a lingering shoulder problem during the 2024 season, but the exact developments that led to the need for surgery this offseason remain unclear. The injury is considered significant enough to require a full-year recovery period.

With Levis sidelined, Tennessee faces an urgent depth issue at quarterback. Behind rookie starter Cam Ward, the Titans currently only have journeymen Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle on their roster. It’s expected that the front office will explore adding a more experienced backup to support Ward through his rookie campaign.

Drafted in the second round in 2023, Levis’ contract remains guaranteed through the 2026 season, ensuring he’ll continue to be paid even while recovering. However, his long-term future with the franchise now appears uncertain. Whether Levis will regain a role with the Titans once healthy—or be viewed as a potential trade asset—remains to be seen.

As Tennessee prepares for the upcoming season, the focus will now turn to Ward, who faces the challenge of stepping into the starting role without Levis available as support.
