Wimbledon 2025 Kicks Off with Svitolina’s Impressive Triumph

Elina Svitolina Cruises Into Wimbledon 2025 Second Round With Dominant Win Over Bondar

Ukrainian star Elina Svitolina, seeded No. 14, made a strong start to her Wimbledon 2025 campaign by defeating Hungary’s Anna Bondar 6-3, 6-1 in the first round on Monday at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Svitolina, currently ranked No. 13 in the world, needed just 63 minutes to seal the win. She fired two aces, tallied 18 winners, and broke Bondar’s serve four times, becoming the first player to officially advance at this year’s Championships.

With this result, Svitolina remains undefeated in her last 21 Grand Slam first-round matches—a streak stretching back seven years.

She will next face the winner of the matchup between France’s Varvara Gracheva and Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
