WNBA Rocked by Third Sex Toy Incident in a Week—Fever-Sparks Game Latest Target

Another Sex Toy Thrown on WNBA Court During Fever-Sparks Game — Sparks Coach Calls It “Ridiculous and Dangerous”

It happened again.

For the third time in just a week, a WNBA game was interrupted by a fan throwing a sex toy onto the court — this time during the Indiana Fever vs. Los Angeles Sparks matchup at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday night.

The moment was both bizarre and unsettling. As the game played on in front of a lively crowd, the object suddenly landed near Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, prompting officials to briefly halt play. Sparks guard Kelsey Plum, unfazed, casually kicked it off the floor so the game could resume — a moment that could’ve turned chaotic, but thankfully didn’t.

Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts didn’t mince words when asked about it after the game.

“I think it’s ridiculous. It’s dumb. It’s stupid,” Roberts told reporters bluntly. “It’s also dangerous, and players’ safety is No. 1. Respecting the game — all those things. I think it’s really stupid. That’s all I’m going to say.”

Plum, who handled the moment with composure, commended everyone involved — both teams and officials — for staying focused.

“I thought we did a great job, Indiana included, just playing on,” Plum said. “Like, don’t give it any attention. And the refs, I really appreciate them too. It’s just like, ‘Hey, let’s go (on with the game).’”

The incident follows two similar disruptions in the past week — one at Gateway Center in Georgia during the Atlanta Dream vs. Golden State Valkyries game, and another last Friday in Chicago during the Valkyries’ matchup with the Sky at Wintrust Arena.

What started as a bizarre one-off prank is now raising real concerns about player safety, respect for the athletes, and the need for tighter venue security.

While some fans may see these incidents as harmless stunts, players and coaches are calling it what it really is: immature, dangerous, and deeply disrespectful to the game.
