Judy and Nick Are Back—And They’re in Therapy?! ‘Zootopia 2’ Trailer Introduces Ke Huy Quan as a Villainous Snake
The citizens of Zootopia better watch out—there’s a snake on the loose, and things are about to get wild.
Disney just dropped the brand-new trailer for Zootopia 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2016 animated smash hit, and it looks like Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are in for their most unexpected case yet. Reprising their iconic roles, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman return as Judy and Nick, now officially partners on the police force. But before they hit the streets, they’ll have to do something even more daunting: survive partners’ counseling.
Yes, you read that right. The trailer opens with Judy and Nick attending therapy sessions to help smooth out their working relationship—comedic chaos ensues. Helping them along is their adorable (and hilariously overwhelmed) therapist, Dr. Fuzzby, voiced by Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson.
The plot kicks into high gear with the arrival of Gary De’Snake, a mysterious reptilian antagonist voiced by Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan. As Nick points out, snakes aren’t exactly common in Zootopia—and Gary’s presence sets off a string of events that sends Judy and Nick on a wild goose chase (or should we say snake chase?) through unexplored corners of the city.
According to Disney, Zootopia 2 follows our favorite cop duo as they “find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down.” To solve the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover and navigate parts of the city they’ve never seen before—putting their new partnership to the test in unexpected ways.
Along with Goodwin, Bateman, and Quan, the film also welcomes back Shakira as Gazelle, the glamorous pop star who fans loved in the original film. New voice cast members include comedian Fortune Feimster as Nibbles Maplestick, a beaver with a big attitude, and Idris Elba reprising his role as the stern but lovable Chief Bogo.
Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, Zootopia 2 promises a fast-paced, funny, and heartwarming return to the animal metropolis. “We are beyond excited to welcome everyone back to the outrageous, expansive world of Zootopia,” said Bush, “and take audiences on a hilarious, wild ride into parts of the city we’ve never visited before.”
Mark your calendars—Zootopia 2 hits theaters on November 26.
